How can I find you?
I do not have a traditional storefront. I work
Do you deliver my cake?
We offer free delivery in
many areas of the triangle area for all wedding cakes and parties of 100 servings or more.
All other cakes, there is a delivery charge based on location
How much notice do you need for a cake?
Wedding cakes 4-6 months. Celebration cakes depend on the time of
year. During the height of wedding season (April-November) usually 2
months notice is needed. During non wedding season, 2-3 weeks is needed.
Always check the calendar for available dates.
I only need a small cake. How small a cake can I order?
Due to the high level of attention that is given to every cake there is a
$65.00 minimum order.
Do you have free tastings?
We have free tastings for weddings and parties over 100 servings only.
They are by appointment only. We have them on selected Sunday afternoons,Monday
and Tuesday Evenings. Please write or call for more information. If you would
like to sample cake, you can purchase cupcakes for $2.50 each.
Please note that a tasting does NOT hold your date. All bookings are first
come, first serve, and the date is only held by your deposit. It is quite
possible that your date will fill after a tasting.
Can I get a list of references to call?
I am afraid I keep all the personal information on my clients
private. Please visit my
testimonial
page if you want to hear from others. The majority of my cake orders are
from referrals from others, so I do firmly believe my cake speaks for itself.
If in doubt, please feel free to come for a tasting or order cupcakes.
How much do you charge for wedding cakes?
See our
Wedding Cake page for more
details on Wedding Cakes.
When do I pay for my cake?
Wedding cakes require a 20% deposit with full balance due two weeks before
the wedding.
Celebration cakes require 20% deposit and full balance is due at pickup.
Celebration cakes also require a 48 hour notice for cancelation. No shows
will still need to pay the full amount due.
When can I pickup my cake?
During non wedding season (April-November) you may pickup your cake between 8
am and 8 PM Monday-Friday. Saturday pick up is available from 7 AM-10 AM.
Oh no, you are booked for my
party! What can I do?
I sometimes have a Wednesday date available for the week of your event.
If your event is on a Friday, then your cake will still be quite fresh if you
pick it up on a Wednesday. Otherwise, I do have a number of other bakeries
I can recommend to you. I am afraid we can never fill a cake order made
the day before or the day of an event.
How far in advance will you bake my cake
Our cakes are baked 2-3 days before due date. All of our cakes
and buttercream are made fresh here. We never use a frozen product
Is the cake boxed?
We try to box all of our cakes the best we can. Large tiered cakes will
be boxed, but may not have a lid. To transport your cake,
make sure you have a flat surface to place the cake in
either your car or Van. We do not recommend traveling with your cake on a
passengers lap or the seat of the car. If you need to use the seat, please
bring some sort of padding to level the seat, so it is not slanted. We do
offer professional wedding cake boxes if you have far to travel for $20.00
purchase.
What methods of payment do you accept?
At this time I accept cash, check, Visa or MasterCard
Do you do kitchen cakes?
Sheet cakes, or "kitchen cakes" are available with a wedding cake purchase of
a regular tiered cake. They come in 50 and 100 serving sizes.
What is fondant? I have heard it tastes awful!
Fondant is a sweet dough that can be rolled out and used to cover a cake. It
gives cakes a beautiful, porcelain-like finish. There is some pretty bad
tasting fondant out there! Especially the craft store fondant, that has a
very long shelf life. I use a European fondant that has a marshmallow type
taste, not a strong chemical or vanilla taste. I can also flavor it to
match your cake. I also have rolled chocolate fondant and rolled white
chocolate. I often offer a fondant covered cake at my tastings so
you will get a chance to try it!
I have a food allergy – can you make me a
gluten-free/dairy-free/nut-free cake?
All of the cakes are made from flour, eggs and butter. I can make you a nut
free cake, but please be aware that all of my cakes are processed on the
same equipment, and while they are cleaned, cakes may still contain traces of
allergens.
What comes with my wedding cake?
All cakes come on a 1/2 inch cake drum.
You can rent cupcake stands, fountains and pillars from us. I often put
rose petals on the table to match your decor if other decorations are not
present. I do not provide plates, forks, napkins, cake knives, cake
servers, linens, cake stands, or tables, nor am I available to cut your cake.
I do however provide a cutting guide if you are having a relative cut the cake
for you.
What is your cancelation policy?
All celebration cakes require 48 hours notice of cancelation or full payment
is still due.
Wedding Cake policy is a little different:
If for any reason you need to postpone your wedding, please contact Simply Cakes
immediately. If you need to postpone or change your wedding date, your new date
may or may not be available. If you need to cancel your order entirely there are
certain refund policies that we follow: If you cancel your wedding, we will
refund 50% of your deposit up to 2 months. After 2 months prior to your wedding,
we cannot refund your deposit or any money paid to Simply Cakes.
Do I have to pick a cake from your Gallery?
The Gallery is there to show you the past work I have done. All of my cakes
are custom made for you, and work with you to design a cake of your own!
Of course, if there is a cake you love in the gallery, I would love to reproduce
it for you!
I want to match my colors: Can you do this?
I do all I can to match any colors, dresses, themes, invitations, etc.
You will need to provide swatches/photos/samples for me to get a truly accurate
representation. I will make every possible effort to match your colors.
Please keep in mind that inks and fabric colors don't always translate into
sugar exactly!
How do I save the top tier of my wedding cake?
Frozen wedding cake isn't really the best cake...as a matter of fact, it is
pretty nasty cake! It's so much better to keep the memory of how
great your cake tasted on your wedding day, and eat a FRESH cake on your
anniversary. This is why you will receive a free 6" 1st anniversary cake baked
fresh for you a year later. If you will be leaving the area, I do provide
a box and instructions for freezing your cake if you choose to do so.
What information do I need in order to place an order?
If you leave us an email, or call and leave a voicemail, it does help if you
include the date of the event, the location, the type of event, the number of
servings needed, and some basic ideas on decorating ideas. And include your
phone number! Please remember that we are a very busy bakery, and we may
not return calls the same day. We do do our best to get back to you as
soon as we can!
